It figures that the British would eventually get even for the Boston Tea Party and Concord and Lexington, even it took more than two hundred and thirty years. And that’s exactly what’s happened with the creation by Englishmen Will Dean and Guy Livingstone of “Tough Mudder: Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet.”
And wouldn’t you just know that an otherwise perfectly sane guy like Lou Ciavarra, a senior partner with Bowditch & Dewey who specializes in litigation cases, would fall for the trap? And that he would drag a bunch of mostly fifty-year-old professionals along with him for the May 7th competition at Mount Snow in West Dover, Vermont?
Has anyone told these people that Mount Snow has a base elevation of 1600 feet and that it’s 3600 feet at the summit? You know what that means: ice! Hence the name for one of the numerous military-style obstacles “Team ALFW” (for Aging Like Fine Wine) will encounter: “Glacier.” There’s also “Cliff Hanger,” “Electroshock Therapy,” “Boa Constrictor,” “Kiss of Mud,” “Devil’s Beard” and “Death March.” You get the
